T here are multiple positions throughout the MPS District. The start and end times vary based on operational needs. This position is an AM Shift - typically starting as early as 5 AM - 1:30 PM or 5:30 AM - 2 PM or 6 AM - 2:30 PM.
**Please note that the Plant Operations Dept. schedules its interviews. Be sure to ask the hiring manager about the locations available along with the start and end times.**
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, provides maintenance and upkeep for the inside and outside of MPS buildings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of experience as an MPS Custodian; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
A valid Minnesota State Driver’s License may be required. A Specialist License is required.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors at MPS facilities; requires constant physical efforts; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed including the use of safety equipment; a job in this category may require walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and ability to frequently lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Eligibility for position is based on passing the required pre-placement exam.
