Job Description

The Esports team is focused on delivering amazing fan experiences through our global events and regional competitions. Our professional and semi-professional competitive tiers in League of Legends, VALORANT and other Esports involve thousands of players and hundreds of organizations competing every week.

This Esports Event Producer is responsible for providing operational and strategic program management across Global Esports Events (e.g., League Worlds and MSI, VAL Masters and Champs), as well as collaboration as needed with the regional leagues (e.g., LTA, LEC), across the Esports pillar, a fast-growing division at Riot started in 2009, with ~5x growth in fans over the last 7-8 years. The division currently spans five games, thousands of professional players, over 100M fans across the globe.  

The Producer, Event Programs is responsible for being the event strategic planning bridge; working with Event Producers and internal stakeholders to drive strategic projects and programs that codify insights, build and share best practices, and document historical and current processes. In this role, you will build and maintain relationships internally and externally around programs that deepen fandom, drive cost efficiencies, and increase revenue opportunities.  You will liaison between both the Valorant and League of Legends teams to support ongoing operational gaps and flex into changing business needs.

You will also be responsible for collaborating with a matrix of stakeholders to unite Riot’s ecosystem around Global Esports moments.  Programs include but are not limited to ticketing and fan experience strategy, event briefing, location selection processes, partnerships pipeline, strategic insights, research studies, city/government relations, and various other operational efficiencies. This role will report to the Director of Global Esports Events Producers and will collaborate on executive presentations, distilling complex information into actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the future events planning group: proactively managing meetings, gathering product needs, updating source of truth (SOT) documents and ensuring internal teams have visibility on upcoming events and multi-year roadmap. Including, but not limited to:
  • Be a liaison to create consistency across both product team(s) of event producers providing consistency, operational support, and event coordination as needed.
  • Develop programs to support Global Esports Events internal and external learning goals focused around deepening fandom, creating efficiencies, and identifying revenue opportunities. 
  • Establish timelines, work systems, and track progress with stakeholders. Develop evaluation tools that measure effectiveness of programs and work with leadership on prioritization.
  • Directly lead operations of the Event Producers team; establish cross-product processes, documentation, retrospectives, best practices, and work systems.
  • Assist as needed in resource and scenario planning, forecasting, and managing department and program operating expenses. 
  • Communicate event project scope, schedules, deliverable dates, project status/action items and any other relevant information.
  • Partner with creative and production teams to brainstorm and produce global events, sharing learnings and documentation across products, events, and regions.
  • Collaborate and drive initiatives with Riot esports teams such as Operations, Business Development, Partnerships, Entertainment, and Publishing in the planning of events and ad-hoc projects.  
  • Manage and maintain senior relationships across Riot Games for collaboration across events and the event portfolio.
  • Prepare and present insights, reports, and recommendations to senior stakeholders as necessary

Required Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of experience in events, production or account management in esports, games, entertainment, tech, or traditional sports industries.
  • Highly collaborative, with experience managing cross-regional, multi-timezone teams and stakeholders.  Managing external and remote teams or large-scale projects involving numerous contributors.  
  • Process driven with experience developing and implementing organizational processes that scale as well as experience with distilling complex information for executive review and presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience onsite at events, with a solid background in events strategy, events production, and project management.
  • Must have a valid passport and be able to travel globally as needed, including up to 2 weeks at a time and up to 20% per year (potentially more pending specific assignments and projects).
  • Understanding of the business of live events.
  • Experience with Google Workspace, Slack and Airtable (Riot’s preferred platforms)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale events for 5,000+ attendees in major markets/arenas worldwide.
  • Experience with traditional project management methodologies and agile.
  • Experience with the complexities of international event planning, regional nuances, venue contracts, and risk mitigation factors.

  • (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $150,000.00 - $209,600.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
